RAJAJI TIGER RESERVE
In 1983 the intent notification of Rajaji National Park was issued after merging the three wildlife sanctuaries of Uttarakhand – Rajaji, Motichur and Chilla.
It was named after the famous freedom fighter C.Rajgopalachari popularly known as “Rajaji”. Rajaji National Park is spread over an area of 820.42 sq km. Subsequently in 2015, 255.63 sq km area of adjacent reserve forest was added to the area of Rajaji Naitonal Park as a buffer zone and the whole area of 1075 sq km was declared as Rajaji Tiger Reserve under the provision of Wild Life Protection Act 1972.
The Tiger Reserve with its picturesque beauty and rich biodiversity serves as a major attraction for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Rajaji Tiger Reserve has a good population of Tigers and Asian Elephants. It is home to a variety of wild animals like leopards, Jungle cats, Sloth bears, Striped Hyena, Goral, Sambar, Wild Boar, Spotted Deer, Barking Deer and many more.
Rajaji is home to 315 bird species belonging to 57 families. Out of the total species, 89 are migrants, 145 are resident, 53 altitudinal migrants, 10 local migrants and the status of 18 are Unknown.

Elephants and leopards are more likely to be seen in Rajaji National Park. tiger sightings are still a little less, At least 3 to 4 hours of safari inside the Park. there are two slots of safari, morning and evening.
